1. What is this club all about? The WBSA is a shareholder Limited Liability Company of which the 100 full members are owners and who will each receive 1 equal share in the company. The Club was set up this way in an effort to minimize legal paperwork and still meet legal needs for liability. Our intention is not to make a profit but to enhance member enjoyment in the use of the Western Basin and also to promote the use of the resource for those that are unaware of it's potential, such as children. Any profits generated from club activities will be put back into the club as capital investment or will be donated to acceptable causes that have interest in Lake Erie endeavors. No members or officers will profit financially from the club. Full members are owners of the club who have invested $50.00 to generate capital to form the club as their cost of membership.
2. How can I become a full member (owner). Full memberships are currently sold out at the 100 member limit. Full members are those that paid an extra $30 when the club formed so that Capital would be available to pay attorney fees and structuring costs. A full member that does not renew within 90 days of renewal time (July 1) will forfeit his share in the club and ownership will revert to WBSA, LLC and either be retired or offered to some one else at market value. Associate members will be offered the right to upgrade their memberships first by auction method.
3. What is an Associate Member? Associate members are entitled to attend and participate in all club activities. They do not have any voting rights or ability to hold any office however. They can volunteer to be involved in club activities as helpers and are encouraged to do so. Associate member dues are $20.00 annually, payable on March 1 of each year, Associate members can upgrade to full membership (if available) by paying the difference in fees of $30.00.
4. Where do I get an Application? You can download a membership application below.
WBSA Application Application is in .pdf format. You must have Adobe reader to view it.
Or you can request an application: By Email: fishingclub@adelphia.net By snail mail: WBSA/Chris Williams 1400 Edwards Dr
Fremont, OH 43420
5. Why can't I register for the message board? Only WBSA members have full access to the message board. No one else will be allowed to register so please don't try as it just makes more work for our secretary. If you are a club member and are having trouble registering it is probably because we don't recognize your email address. Please sign up using the same email as when you joined the club or notify us of any email change.
6. Where are the meetings and why so far from the center of the Western Basin? Most of our meetings will be held at Margaritaville in Sandusky. This is a very nice facility with a full service bar and food available before during and after the meetings. Several times a year we have fish fry's and a skeet shoot. The fish fry's are held at Cranberry Creek Marina and the Skeet Shoot will be at Wakeman, Ohio. Check the front page of the website for information about upcoming meetings.
The meetings are held in this area as we have lots of members driving from eastern Ohio and these sites are more centrally located for them.
7. Can I attend the meetings before joining the club? Yes! Everyone is welcome to check out the club activities before joining. You may attend 2 club functions before we will ask you to join or go on your merry way.
8. What is the club's interpretation of the Western Basin area? The club interprets the western basin as including all Lake Erie waters from Monroe, Michigan to Lorain, Ohio.
9. Can I get a waiver of club fees while on Active military duty duty? Yes you can! Sign up with your military address and we will add you to the club roster for the duration of your service. We appreciate your service to our country! |
