I received a report yesterday and it sounds like fishing was pretty good. Based on the most recent weather forecast the conditions might hold up for today, but the weekend and next week don’t look good at all. It might start feeling a little more like February. The following is the report that came in yesterday:
“Today they were biting. The guys that went out of Catawba found some clear water and biting fish! In the 25 to 30 ft. range the marks were there. Most fish caught were in the 15 to 20" range. Not giants, but all nice eaters. The fish were between the mainland and Green and between Green and South Bass. Clear water and calm seas were a big reason things happened today. Jigs, pimples and minnows did the trick. The bit was very light. You had one chance and if you missed, too bad.”

The WBSA party at Ray Sterk’s is tomorrow. Here is the information from the WBSA home page:
“Skeet Shoot, Wild Game, Fish fry and raffles along with our February meeting. If you ever wanted to find out what the club is all about this would be a good time to come check us out.
When? Feb 4, 2006 at 2 PM for shooting. A short meeting will be held at 4 PM and then we return to the fun.
Where? 4970 Butler Rd., Wakeman, OH 44889.
Who's invited? Anyone that has an interest in WBSA.
What does it cost? Nothing, but bring a side dish and your own drinks. Bring your favorite shotgun and some shells. We'll supply the clay.”
The Vermilion buoy has been pulled for the season. The most recent (9 am, Fri. 2/03) report from the South Bass weather station has wind gusts up to 10 knots out of the W and the wind chill is 27.1 F.
