3 teams from the club went to Henderson Harbor last week for the MWC tourney there. Matt Davis and Dan Gies finished in 9th place and Tim Joseph and Jeff Lash finished in 11th. Chris and I have a dark cloud following us, as I had lower unit problems and couldn't fish. Matt and Dan also won the Ranger Cup award for $1000. Way to go guys!
This was our first trip to Henderson Harbor and what a fishery it is. Pike were on fire and I think if we targeted them we could have caught 50-75 a day. We didn't get many large ones but did get some in the 32-34" range. We also caught a 7 pound and a few 5 pound smallies but they were wimps and never put on any acrobatics for us. Brown trout were also hitting while we were there. We'll go back for a fun trip one of these days. What a beautiful place with lots of big fish to be had!
Henchens Marina has rooms for $25 a night with free coffee and pastries in the morning, they also supply dock space at no charge if there is room. If you ever decide to go there give them a call.
I don't have a major tourney for almost 3 months now so maybe it's time to shake off the competive nature and just do some fun fishing for a while to get over this slump we're in!
